Production and Pattern Assistant

Job Description

 

  • Assisting with garment fittings. Maintaining ongoing plans for pattern changes, new patterns, and samples. Communicating with external pattern makers.
  • Cutting samples and small batch production.
  • Create technical flats, tech packs, and BOMs when needed.
  • Assist with quality assurance – have a keen eye for garment construction and aid with QC of incoming products.
  • Support with supply logistics and maintenance (sourcing fabric and trims), including using Fishbowl management system.
  • Sewing tasks to assist with development, and inventory fixes.
  • Team support in areas beyond design and production such as (but not limited to) shipping and deliveries, photoshoot assistance, and warehouse sales.
  • Use excel to manage in-house and factory production plans.

  • Self-starter – takes initiative and looks for opportunities to improve and address new and existing production needs.
  • Entrepreneurial – recognizes the growth opportunity with a start-up company; motivated by challenges stemming from this fast-paced environment.
  • Diligent – able to handle the challenging environment of production, staying organized and showing resilience to working through all issues that come up.
  • Team Player - Participates in building a strong production team centred around teamwork, positivity, productivity, and self-accountability.
  • Communication Skills – able to communicate with coworkers and external partners in a professional way.
  • Ethically Minded - Cares about ethical fashion practices and keeps that front of mind in the production and factory environment, raising questions and conversations when necessary.
  • Cutting – prior cutting experience would be an asset.
  • Pattern Making – understands basics of pattern making. Experience using Gerber system an asset.
  • Microsoft Excel – experience using Excel system an asset.
  • Physicality – able to lift 50 lbs. Willing to move heavy fabric rolls and boxes of finished goods.
  • Driving – have a valid driver’s license.
